Throughout the year a wide variety of events, as listed below, are held for the entertainment of Club members, their families and invited guests. Regular announcements are mailed in advance for all such occasions. For the most up to date listing of events, please see the Calendar page.
Club Nights
For Club members, spouses and guests. Usually these consist of a social hour and dinner followed by special entertainment: theater engagements, Symphony, Pops, Book Club, Author Evenings and Sports Nights. Members recently took a trip to the Hasty Pudding production of "Some Like it Yacht", rooted for the home team at the Red Sox vs. Yankees in the Grill Room event, and will soon discuss their favorite Shakespeare selections at the upcoming Book Club meeting.
Distinguished Speaker Lecture Series
The Distinguished Speaker Lecture Series features leaders in the arts and sciences, government, finance, business and religion. Members are encouraged to bring guests to this event which typically begins with a cocktail hour preceeding dinner with remarks following. Recent Guest Speakers include Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, Margaret H. Marshall and President of Catholic Charities of Boston, Father J. Bryan Hehir.
Holiday Dinners
Every year there is a festive dinner for the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Mother’s Day holidays. Offering special menus for the occasion and staggered seating, members find the service, ambiance and convenience of these special occasions to be unparalleled Many members have made their holiday dinner at the Algonquin Club a family tradition.
Children’s Special Events
Each year the Club hosts a few events specifically for young children and grandchildren of the members, such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Make Way for Ducklings Mother's Day Brunch, and the popular Christmas Party with a visit from Santa. Soon, members and their daughters will take to the dance floor in honor of Father's Day at the Father/Daughter Dinner Dance.
Annual Meeting In the month of May, the previous year’s activities are reviewed and Officers and Directors for the new fiscal year are elected at the Club’s annual meeting. All resident and life members are encouraged to attend this meeting and join in the refreshments served following the meeting.
Cancellation Policy
Please help the Club to better serve you by making timely reservations for events and dining, as well as canceling with advance notice. Due to planning and preparation costs, it will be necessary to charge members for reservations not cancelled within 48 hours prior to an event. Should you need to change or cancel a reservation, please obtain for your records the name of the person taking your call. |
